A cobbled mountain town that has beaten copper for so long the sound of it is the sound of the street.
Lahic is one long cobbled street with workshops down both sides, and coppersmiths have worked here for centuries. You hear it before you see it: a steady, uneven tapping from a dozen doorways at once. The engraving tradition is on the UNESCO intangible heritage list.
The town has its own dialect, its own water system running under those cobbles, and a stubbornness about all of it. The road in is narrow and carved into a gorge, which is either the best part of the trip or the worst, depending on the driver.
